SACS Superstar Award
Our SACS teachers and staff members impact the lives of our students and contribute to the overall betterment of our community. By instilling knowledge, values, and skills in our children, they are shaping the future of society.
We need your help in honoring SACS employees who have gone above and beyond to impact our students! The SACS Education Foundation has created a new opportunity for you to nominate a SACS employee to help recognize and thank them for how they impact our children.
We need your help in honoring SACS employees who have gone above and beyond to impact our students!
Each month, a committee will review the list of employees nominated to select as SACS Superstar award recipient. The winner selected will receive recognition and $250 to thank them for making a difference in our students' lives and in our community.
Mr. Miller
“Kenny is passionate about his subject, but, more importantly, he is passionate about his students and their success. He is always looking at ways to help students be more confident in their math skills. He goes above and beyond by offering free after school tutoring for any student who wants extra help!”
Mr. Strebig
“In addition to directing his band students to play instruments he instills confidence and enthusiasm everyday to all the students present and past on a daily basis. He has been with Woodside since its beginnings which shows pride and dedication to his continued dedication to education and music!”
Mrs. Caudill
“It is my honor to nominate Sue Caudill in recognition of exceptional dedication, creativity, and unwavering commitment to students’ musical and personal growth.
From the moment students walk into the music room, it is clear that Mrs. Caudill creates far more than lessons - she creates experiences. Mrs. Caudill’s classroom is a place where students feel valued, capable, and inspired to explore music in meaningful ways.
What truly sets Mrs. Caudill apart is the way she goes above and beyond daily expectations. Her engaging musicals foster confidence in even the most hesitant performers and her storytelling brings music to life - igniting enthusiasm school-wide.
Outside the classroom, Mrs. Caudill invests countless hours directing performances, organizing school concerts, preparing students for community events, and collaborating across grade levels. These productions consistently showcase not only students’ musical skills but also their teamwork, discipline, and pride. Families frequently express their appreciation for the joy and professionalism that shine through each event.
We are all lucky to have such a fabulous music teacher at Deer Ridge!”
Mrs. Young
“Lori goes above and beyond on a daily basis in our cafeteria ensuring that every child is safe and well fed. This requires a personal knowledge of the children on her part, keeping up with medical concerns related to food allergies. Lori communicates regularly with the nurse, working together to ensure that what is being served and consumed in the cafeteria is safe - up to the point of petitioning the SACS Food Services Director to return to past products due to the issuance of new products containing suspected allergens.
Lori notifies teachers and staff every time there is a menu change due to remote learning, or products unavailable to serve. I am told that this service, even the service of printing monthly menus and putting in teacher/staff mailboxes is a service that not many other schools' cafeterias do. We are so lucky to have Lori here! She is one of the beautiful pillars of this school, district, and community!”
Mr. Pat
“Mr Pat acts like he lives his job greeting every student every morning and afternoon with the biggest smile on his face. Before Thanksgiving break he gave each kid a personalized note that was so sweet. He goes above and beyond for all of the kids on his bus and helps to start your days off in a good mood.”
“Mr. Pat is the perfect example of what a bus driver should be. He is always very kind toward everyone, and truly cares about everyone on his bus.”
2025-2026 Superstar Award Winners
Matt Loshe
“Matt is the third grade team lead in our building. He has two new members on his team this year. Each morning he stops in each of our rooms to say hello and check in on us both professionally and personally. Matt is a teacher who impacts every student he meets. He is the sponsor for running club and the coach for the Summit Middle School Cross Country Team. Each day while picking up students from recess, previous students yell Mr. Loshe's name just to get a hello or a wave. Matt handles many of our most fragile students with extreme care. He first makes sure children are in a safe emotional place to learn and then he dives deep with data to fill in gaps and make each child feel like a success. No child leaves Mr. Loshe's room feeling like they can't accomplish any challenge set before them. AND...he does it all with a smile on his face.”
Mrs. Bowman
“Mrs. Bowman is without a doubt one of the most inspiring adults I know. She always has a positive attitude and understands when we’re trying our best. She also pioneered for us to have a Calc 3 class even though Homestead wasn’t able to run the course last year. She always puts in more time than she has to, more money into her classroom, and more care into our learning, emphasizing that she really cares about our growth and learning on a personal level. I’m so grateful I’ve had Mrs. Bowman in math for the past 3 years, and I hope so many more students get to have her in the future as well. For her selflessness and character, Mrs. Bowman is incredibly deserving of the SACS Superstar Award.”
